UND’s Nick Schmaltz Scores Highlight Reel Goal Against Western Michigan [VIDEO]

The University of North Dakota's 8-1 victory over Western Michigan was full of highlights, but one stood out above them all.

During the first period of the Fighting Hawks' game Friday night against the Broncos in Grand Forks, center Nick Schmaltz danced around the Western Michigan goalie to tuck the puck into the back of the net, giving UND a 2-0 lead.

That was just one of the many fantastic things Schmaltz did during the game, which included four points in the game's first 22 minutes, according to Yahoo!

With the win, UND secured their second straight Penrose Cup, which is awarded to the NCHC's regular season champion.

Schmaltz was picked 20th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 29 games this season for the Fighting Hawks, scoring five goals and dishing out 29 assists, according to UNDSports.com.
