University of North Dakota star defenseman Jordan Schmaltz will forgo his senior season in Grand Forks, after signing an entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blues.

The Blues drafted Schmaltz 25th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, according to CollegeHockeyNews.com. His entry-level contract with the Blues is for three years, which he signed on Thursday, May 28th.

During his time at UND, Schmaltz appeared in 125 games, where he scored 13 goals and 64 points. He also helped lead UND to three straight postseason appearances, including back-to-back Frozen Four appearances.

UND goalie Zane McIntyre announced he was turning pro back on May 12th. His draft rights belong to the Boston Bruins.
