Wide receiver Carey Woods and linebacker James Gates have both announced that they are leaving the North Dakota State University football team.

According to InForum, head coach Chris Klieman believes both players will continue to attend NDSU.

Woods was heading into his fourth year as a member of the Bison football program. Last season, he had 16 receptions for 165 yards.

Gates played in only three games last year for the Bison, mostly on special teams.

The departure of Woods and Gates will open up the door for freshmen players to earn more playing time in the upcoming season.

The Bison will play their Green and Gold spring game this Saturday, April 25th, in Fargo.
