Thrillist, always with too much time on their hands has to publish something every day, so they come up stuff like this. The best band from every state.

From reading this list, I would re-name it to the best known band from every state, because some could debate this list. The criteria was some of the following-

  • The band must have been formed or based in the state.
  • Thrillist was only searching for groups not solo acts.
  • Bands considered had to be a musical group after World War II.

That pretty much sums it up for the criteria. As I thought about this list, I could not for the life of me think of a group which was based in North Dakota. Maybe you know of a group that has it roots in North Dakota and rose to national stardom?

The group from North Dakota according to Thrillist was Bobby Vee and the Strangers, who originally called themselves The Shadows. The group debut in 1959 at a Moorhead, Minnesota show by filling in for Buddy Holly. Bobby Vee was born in Fargo on April 30, 1943 and died on October 24, 2016 in Rogers, MN after a 5-year fight with Alzheimer's disease.
