The 19th Annual Tribal Leader's Summit and Trade Show began Tuesday, September 8 with an impressive opening ceremony.

The Tribal Leader's Summit and Trade Show is currently taking place at the Bismarck Event Center. People poured in to witness the culture filled opening ceremonies which began at 1 p.m.

The Master of Ceremonies, Lawrence Baker, opened with a speech followed by the Presentation of the Colors by the UTTC Color Guard. Theresa HisChase blessed listeners with a wonderful prayer and individual thank-you's.

A highlight was definitely Nashville recording artist Mercedes Gourneau, originally from Bismarck, singing the National Anthem. Gourneau competed at the 2013 IPOP International Convention in Los Angeles and was awarded 6th place in her age category.

UTTC President Leander (Russ) McDonald introduced the UTTC Board of Directors and Dignitaries. The opening ceremonies closed with keynote speaker Brian Cladoosby. He is the president of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI).
