In what has become an annual event in Bismarck, leaders from around the region have gathered once again for the Tribal Leaders Summit, a three-day event where tribal leaders share information about current issues in Indian Country.

Billy Mills, who is best known for being the Oglala Lakota athlete who won the 1964 10,000-meter run in Tokyo, will be sharing his inspirational story at the United Tribes International Powwow.

The United Tribes International Powwow, held each September in Bismarck, was named by USA Today and Paul Gowder of Powwows.com one of the ten best.

Anyone living around here knows the United Tribes International Powwow is a big deal. The powwow is held annually in the Lone Star Arena at the United Tribes Technical College here in Bismarck and is widely considered to be one of the premier cultural events in the state!
