Squirrels may be cute little creatures but one caused major inconvenience to residents of North Bismarck Wednesday Morning. The Century Avenue substation was damaged at 8 a.m. when a squirrel got into it causing the power to go out for an unknown number of customers, according to a spokesman for Montana-Dakota Utilities Co.

Besides residents loosing power, many traffic lights were out and stores were without power.

Power was restored to most customers by 10:45 a.m., but there still is work to be done at the substation.

The shortage took out power in the area north of Interstate 94 and west of State Street, south of 43rd Street and just west of Clydesdale Drive.

Thanks to the workers at MDU for getting power restored so quickly, and watch out for those furry little squirrels- they are trouble makers!
