One 4th Of July I Will Never Forget

It was July 4th 1978, I was only 7 years old but it is the one 4th of July that I will never forget! It was the day that an F4 tornado hit my hometown of Elgin, N.D.

We live on a farm 7 miles from Elgin, but we could see the tornado strike Elgin on that hot, humid 4th of July. My parents sent me to the basement as they watched outside, we received heavy winds and huge hail but were lucky to not be in the direct path of the tornado.

People lost their lives and many others lives were changed forever, seems so long ago but as me celebrate the 4th of July tomorrow I always remember the 4th of July that changed my life and my hometown of Elgin, N.D.
