Baseball fans, rejoice! Northwoods League baseball is officially coming to Bismarck in 2017.

There have been discussions regarding the possibility of a Northwoods League team in Bismarck since 2011, but now it seems like it'll become a reality.

According to KFYR TV, the Northwoods League signed a 10-year lease agreement with Bismarck Parks and Rec, which includes two five-year extension options. So, the team could be in Bismarck for the next twenty years, if they so choose.

The Bismarck team will be the 19th in the Northwoods League, which is a summer, wood bat league for collegiate players.

There will be a 'Name the Team' contest held to determine the team's mascot.

The Northwoods League began back in 1994, with affiliates in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The league continues to expand and is looking at other possible locations for teams in the Dakotas.
