North Dakota's most haunted attraction, the Haunted Fort, is listed as number 10 in The Active Time's '10 Must-Visit Haunted House Attractions Across the U.S.'

The Haunted Fort in Mandan has been a Halloween tradition the past 14 years. The Fort provides three different haunted houses for guests to walk through, but this is not what made it one of the best in the nation.

The Custer House is considered to be haunted by many. Workers, as well as guests, have admitted to hearing footsteps in the sergeant's quarters. Some have seen a woman in a black dress looking out the second floor window and a shadowy figure walking the Commissary late at night.

The number one must-visit haunted house in the U.S. is Terror Behind the Walls in Philadelphia. This state penitentiary turned haunted house is for the most hard core thrill seekers. The Philadelphia Eastern State Penitentiary was once one of the most famous prisons in the world. Visitors may choose to explore the property as an onlooker or choose an interactive experience. If you choose the latter, prepare to be incorporated into the show!

The Haunted Fort's opening weekend is Friday and Saturday, October 9-10. Make sure to check the full schedule and get your tickets ahead of time at a discounted price!
