It's no secret that I enjoy beer. Every weekend, you can find me at Captain Jack's perusing the beer coolers to try something new. Now, I'm not saying that my beer drinking helped put North Dakota into the Top 10 among beer drinking states...But it didn't hurt either.

According to a study by The Beer Institute, North Dakota drinks the 2nd most beer in the United States, trailing only New Hampshire. According to the study, the average North Dakotan will drink 42 gallons of beer over the course of the year. Surprisingly, that is actually DOWN from 10 years ago, when North Dakotans were drinking 44 gallons of beer a year! North Dakota also has the 2nd highest number of binge drinkers at 24% of the population. The study attributes a lot of the beer drinking in North Dakota to the influx of younger males moving to the state because of the oil boom.

Here's the Top 10 Beer Drinking States, according to The Beer Institute:

1.) New Hampshire
2.) North Dakota
3.) Montana
4.) South Dakota
5.) Nevada
6.) Wisconsin
7.) Vermont
8.) Texas
9.) Nebraska
10.) Delaware
