Wednesday morning, May 6th, a town in North Dakota was evacuated due to a BNSF train derailment and fire at about 7:30.

It has been confirmed from the Wells County Sheriff's Department, a train has derailed near the town of Heimdal and black smoke can be seen for miles according to witnesses on the scene.

The train derailed this morning and six tanker cars are on fire. Here is a picture from the derailment, courtesy of Jennifer Willis:

The town of Heimdal is a small town between Harvey and New Rockford.

There are no reports of injuries yet. We'll update the story as the information becomes available.
