While we may drink the most beer in the United States, North Dakota actually has nearly the fewest breweries.

Thrillest recently ranked every state, according to its beer, and North Dakota lands at #47.

It isn't so much because we don't produce great beer here, because we do. There are just so few breweries doing it.

Here's what Thrillest had to say about North Dakota:

You’d think that two decades of enduring wood-chipper jokes would drive more North Dakotans to drink, but noh... noh, there’s not much brewing going on here, though a can of Fargo Brewing Co.’s Iron Horse Pale Ale is a mighty fine treat.

While we may hold down the #47 spot, the worst state for beer is actually Mississippi. Thrilliest says that Mississippi has 'fewer breweries than Blind Willie Nine Fingers has digits'.

If you're looking for the state with the best brewery selection, head west. Oregon takes the top spot on Thrillest's list, hosting breweries like Rogue, Widmer, and Deschutes.
