The North Dakota Capitol will host the annual lighting of its Christmas tree on Tues. Dec. 12.

Like usual, the tree is set up in Memorial Hall. The ceremony will begin at 5:30pm.

Entertainment will be provided by pianist Joel Gilbertson, the Bismarck Mandan Symphony
Orchestra Brass Ensemble, and Legacy High School Evolution and Gold Standard Vocal
Ensembles.

There were 331 ornaments created by children, students, artists and craftspeople for this year's tree. The tree has been decorated by children and students since 1981.

The ceremony will be led by Governor Doug Burgum, First Lady Kathryn Helgaas Burgum, and Kim Shaw. (We assume it is the Kim Shaw that works in the Secretary of State's office and not the actress… but it was not specified).

Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. It is free to attend.

For what it's worth, at sundown on Dec. 12, it will mark the start of Hanukkah as well.
