It was just last month that a mountain lion was shot and killed by Bismarck police near Municipal Ballpark. On Wednesday (February 6th), mountain lion tracks were spotted in the city of Lincoln.

The animal tracks have been confirmed by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department and they also indicate that the animal moved through Lincoln, to the east of the University of Mary, and is continuing south toward the Oahe Wildlife Management Area.

A furbearer biologist, Stephanie Tucker, told the Bismarck Tribune that the mountain lion is heading south of the university, towards the river and the wildlife management area.

The mountain lion is currently being tracked by officers from both the Burleigh County Sheriff's Department and the Lincoln Police Department.

Bismarck's region happens to reside mountain lion hunting zone 2 in the state. According to the North Dakota Game and Fish Department website, mountain lion season in zone 2 is open through the last day of March.
