Missing Gun From Minot AFB Recovered

The machine gun from Minot Air Force Base that went missing a few weeks ago has now been recovered.

KXMB reports that Special Agents from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations recovered the missing M-240 machine gun Tuesday from the off-base residence of an airman.

The agents recovered the weapon executing a federal warrant.

As the Air Force Times reports, the 7.62mm weapon was found to be missing during a weapons inventory check May 16.

As you might recall, a crate of automatic grenade launcher ammunition fell off a Humvee on a nearby Native American reservation. They still haven't found the crate; actually, the search was called off.

The embarassing incidents, which made national news, led to the firing of  91st Security Forces Group commander Col. Jason Beers, and superintendent Chief Master Sgt. Nikki Drago.

Col. Beers, for the record, has found a new gig; he's scheduled to take over as chief of the installation division at Air Force Special Operations Command later this summer.
