Minot-Based B-52 Bomber Crashes in Guam

Authorities are reporting a Minot-based B-52 bomber burst into flames at the Anderson Air Force Base in Guam this morning (5/19) after an aborted take off.

According to Brigadier General Douglas Cox, the crew of seven was not injured in the crash. The accident happened at about 8:30 a.m. local time.

The plane was loaded with fuel, but was not carrying live munitions at the time of the incident.

The crew was with the 69th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron and was on training exercises. This is the first major B-52 crash since 2008.

The incident is under investigation.
