During a press conference Wednesday morning, September 28th, it was announced that a new indoor football team would be coming to Bismarck. Their first committed player was also announced.

Originally from Grand Forks, wide receiver Elby Pope played his college football in Bismarck at the University of Mary from 2011-14.

During his time with the Marauders, Pope racked up 2,781 yards on 44 receptions. He also scored 22 receiving touchdowns during his time at UMary and ran two punts back for touchdowns, according to GoUMary.com.

Following his time at UMary, Pope joined the Minnesota Axemen of the Indoor Football League. Unfortunately, the team folded prior to the 2016 season, leading Pope to look for another opportunity on the football field.

That next opportunity will be right here in Bismarck, suiting up for the yet-to-be-named Bismarck indoor football team of the Champions Indoor Football League, which will play at the Bismarck Event Center.

Pope was introduced to fans during the introductory press conference on Wednesday (9/28):

Season tickets for Bismarck's new professional football team go on sale October 10th. You can get more details at BismarckProFootball.com.
