If you're a golfer and spend any time in North Dakota, you absolutely must venture to Medora and golf Bully Pulpit.

Bully Pulpit is an 18-hole golf course, located in the Badlands of North Dakota. In 2013-14, it was named one of America's 100 greatest public golf courses by Golf Digest and, having spent my 32nd birthday on the course recently, I'm here to tell you that that distinction is well deserved.

The front nine holes on the course are set up pretty similar to any other golf course in the country, though the scenery is anything but. From the streams running through the course to the gorgeous buttes that surround you, the front nine alone would make any golfer want to come back.

It's Bully Pulpit's back nine, though, that is truly a site to behold. You are literally smack dab in the middle of North Dakota's Badlands, golfing through some of the absolute greatest terrain you'll ever see on a golf course. The 15th hole is easily Bully Pulpit's signature hole, where you tee off from the top of one butte and onto another. I'd be lying if I said the whole didn't eat me alive, along with my golf balls, but it was totally worth it.

Even though I golfed, arguably, my worst round ever, the scenic view of Bully Pulpit more than made up for my terrible swing and gave me a 32nd birthday I'll never forget.
