Tuesday night in Fargo, the longest active winning streak in North Dakota high school athletics came to an end, as Fargo Shanley was defeated by Fargo Davies, 45-41 in girls basketball.

Fargo Shanley had set a Class A girls basketball record with 76 consecutive victories, this according to the North Dakota High School Activities Association. The record includes three state championships.

The streak began in January 2014 for Fargo Shanley. Along the way to setting the historic record in the modern era, they ended the previous record, held by Minot Ryan with 63 consecutive victories, until Fargo Shanley defeated them in December 2014.
