Records are meant to be broken, and it happened in Bismarck Saturday.

If you thought it was hot Saturday, it was! So hot, it broke the old record.

The temperature was 93 degrees, and many people took advantage of the long weekend with sunshine and hot weather. The old record was set in 1934.

How hot was it?

The river was packed with boats and jet-skies. It was so hot, the pavement on the highway on State Street, near the Capital buckled.

It was so hot, the campground at General Sibley parked was full with weekend campers.

The city parks were full with people using the bar-b-q pits.

The zoo was busy, the movie theaters and malls were busy with folks seeking refuge from the heat.

Nevertheless, it was a welcome setting for a long holiday weekend.
