Without a doubt next week - March 18 - 24th - is so important. National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week. Here is a fact, alcohol is legal to buy if you are over 21 years of age in North Dakota - the sad truth is that minors in Bismarck and Mandan WILL drink, and with that the possibility of one of them driving a vehicle under the influence, and just like an adult they could easily lose their life or kill someone else.

Educating our youth in the REAL facts of alcohol use and drugs

I never paid much attention when I was in school, I don't remember anyone taking time to come out and talk to us and lay down some solid facts about drinking and drugs. According to a Bismarck News Release "The purpose of National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week is to inspire dialogue among youth and adults about the science of alcohol and other drug use, how it affects the brain and body, and how it may lead to addiction"

St. Mary’s High School, Bismarck High School, and Legacy High School will be participating in National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week

There is so much more to talking to kids and telling them the evils of in something that can easily ruin their lives - to INSPIRE is the key. “National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week is an opportunity to inspire and encourage young people to live free from underage substance use, allowing them to ask questions about drugs & alcohol without judgment, and receive science-based answers,” said Isabelle Ballalatak, SAP Specialist for Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health.

Mayor Micheal Schmitz signed a proclamation declaring March 18th-24th National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week (NDAFW) in the City of Bismarck.

This is a wonderful thing they are doing, I hope that people of any age realize that alcohol and drugs are deadly. I find this a "Blessing".
