All over the country, Americans paid tribute to those who have donned a military uniform to protect our freedom, and Bismarck was no different. Hundreds of people came out to the Heritage Center on Veterans Day to honor Veterans and their families and to honor the sacrifices they have made.

In a moving ceremony led by VFW Past State Commander Bob Bird, Governor Jack Dalrymple, Congressman Kevin Cramer, Major General David A. Sprynczynatyk, and representatives for ND Senators John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp paid tribute to our nation's heroes. Col. Giselle M. Wilz, ND National Guard Chief of Staff and Commander of the 141st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, was the guest speaker and gave a moving personal account of what inspired her to enlist in the military.

All Veterans, past and present, deserve the utmost respect. A simple 'thank you' doesn't begin to accurately portray the gratitude that is deserved, but it's a good start.

Thank you.
