The fantastic news is that Halsey has dropped some new music. The 'completely unexpected' news is that it sounds just like a Rihanna song you've heard before.

Let me be upfront about something. This is in no way a knock on Halsey. Personally, I adore her and her music. I've been lucky enough to see her live in concert before and she was incredible! I think it's fantastic that she's received plenty of notoriety for her talents, not only from the success of her amazing album "Badlands," but also her collaboration with the Chainsmokers, which resulted in the single "Closer" that topped the Billboard charts for weeks on end. Needless to say, the fact that she has released new music is amazing, and the single itself, "Now Or Never," is quite good. However, when you listen to it in the short-film music video below, you can definitely tell that it sounds a little too familiar.

Again, I dig it. I'm very pleased with it. But it was clear to me that it sounded a little too much like a Rihanna song you may have heard in recent history.

Let's be honest. Every artist has sampled and used similar beats, hooks, riffs as other artists. The fact that I'm comparing the new single from Halsey to a previously successful single from Rihanna is a good thing. Anytime you can be compared to Rihanna, it's a good thing.

The similarities in the song rhythms are the main point. That being said, I'm truly excited that Halsey is back with new music, as I'm sure all her other fans are, and even with the similarities in song flow, she showcases her talents and makes the new single her own. It's good to hear from you again, Halsey.
