Multiple fires north of Grand Forks has caused a 30 mile stretch of Interstate 29 to be closed due to limited visibility today, April 15th.

UPDATE 4/15 4:25PM:  NDDOT has lifted the No Travel Advisory on I-29 from exit 145 in Grand Forks to the Canadian border. Fire crews in the area have brought the fires under control. A travel alert is still in effect for the area as they are still working to douse any hot spots that could potentially re-ignite and cause limited visibility in the area due to smoke.

Emergency Responders have been seen spraying the ground in an effort to control a grass fire between Grand Forks and Manvel, N.D. The fires start around the Washington Street exit on Interstate 29, and continue intermittently traveling north.

30 miles of I-29 have been closed from Drayton to the Canadian border due to the fires. Smoke in the area has limited visibility to zero on the interstate.
