Long-distance runner Erin Teschuk became the sixth North Dakota State Bison alum to compete in the Summer Olympics when she ran the 3,000m steeplechase on Saturday, August 13th.

Teschuk, who was running for her home country of Canada, participated in the steeplechase qualifying round, but her time of 9:53.70 wasn't good enough for her to advance. She finished in 46th place overall, according to GoBison.com.

Teschuk recently turned pro, signing a deal to run for Asics Furman Elite, essentially ending her collegiate career at NDSU.

In an interview with GoBison.com, Teschuk mentions that if the race were to take place four years from now, the end result may have been different. So, it seems like Teschuk aims to compete again at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Bahrain's Ruth Jebet went on to win the gold medal in the 3,000m steeplechase, with a time of 8:59.75. Emma Coburn won the bronze medal, with a time of 9:07.63, making her the first American woman to stand on the steeplechase podium.
