We've all seen them out on lawns - and the man who created the pink lawn flamingo, Donald Featherstone has died at the age of 79.

Featherstone was a sculptor and working for Union  plastics company when he created the iconic pink flamingo back in 1957.

He modeled the bird after a picture he had seen in National Geographic magazine and sold millions of the birds!

Donald worked for Union plastics for 43 years and moved his way up the ranks and became the president of the company before retiring in 1999.

It is amazing to me that something so simple and a bit silly made a fortune for many, I need to come up with an idea like this!
