Carson Wentz had to leave the game in the third quarter of yesterday's game (Dec. 10) against the Rams with a left knee injury.

On Monday morning (Dec. 11), it was announced Carson Wentz tore his ACL and he would be out for the season.

He hurt his knee when rushing into the endzone on a play that ultimately was called back due to a holding call. You can see the play in the above video.

Originally it was unclear what the injury was but there were immediate fears of an ACL tear according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Wentz stayed in the game for a few more plays after the injury and even threw a fourth down touchdown pass giving fans hope that the injury was not that severe.

That touchdown pass was Wentz's 33rd of the season. No Eagles Quarterback has ever thrown more touchdown passes in one season.

You can listen to the radio call courtesy of Merrill Reese, Mike Quick and Howard Eskin of Sports Radio 94 WIP in Philadelphia below.

Wentz is also the only quarterback this year to have thrown at least one touchdown pass in every game.

About two and a half hours after the game ended, Wentz sent out a tweet congratulating his fellow teammates on winning the NFC East and giving thanks for all the well wishes.

On the Eagles depth chart behind Nick Foles, is Nate Sudfeld, who has never thrown a pass in a regular season NFL game. It's expected the Eagles will bring in another quarterback.

Nick Foles is 27-19 in the regular season in his career. He played in one playoff game as the Eagles starter in 2013. He was 23 of 33 for 195 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions in a 26-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
