The Philadelphia Eagles have a quarterback they can look forward to watching and North Dakota has a player they can brag about.

Wentz, the former NDSU standout quarterback was impressive in his NFL debut coming right out of the gate and scoring a touchdown on his first drive in the NFL.

The opening drive had five first downs on nine plays.

His second drive resulted in a punt. The Eagles had a missed field goal on their third possession.

Going into the half, Wentz had not found the endzone a second time but he ended the first half completing 10 passes on 19 attempts for 128 yards and the touchdown. The Eagles led 13-7 going into the third quarter.

Finally Wentz found the endzone for a second time with 6:23 left in the third quarter connecting with Nelson Agholor on a 35 yard strike down the right sideline. The pass capped off a 9 play 73 yard drive and gave the Eagles a 22-10 lead following the extra point.

At that time, Wentz was 17/30, for 222 yards and two touchdowns. His passer rating was 102.4.

Wentz did not find the endzone himself in the 4th quarter but the Eagles had no problems handling arguably one of the worst teams in the league in the Cleveland Browns.

He finished the day 22/37 for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns. He did not turn the ball over. His passer rating was 101.0.

The Eagles won 29-10.

Throughout the day Wentz showed poise, athleticism, a strong arm, a great ability to read the defense and he certainly looked like this was not just his first game in the NFL.

Despite only playing in one preseason game due to broken ribs, Wentz looked as though he didn't miss a beat and he looks destined to have a successful NFL career.

Wentz will take the stage in primetime next week on Monday Night Football against the Bears in Chicago.
