If you were going to select an NFL All-Pro Team at the halfway point of the season, there’s a pretty good chance that Carson Wentz is your pick at quarterback.

ESPN’s Field Yates made his picks at each position for a midseason All-Pro Team for the 2017 NFL season and sure enough, Carson Wentz is head of the class at the quarterback position. Yates talked up Wentz as much as any player he picked, stating:

With 23 passing touchdowns and just five interceptions, Wentz has emerged as one of the best players in football regardless of position. The Eagles quarterback has outstanding in-pocket mobility to extend plays and out-of-pocket mobility to hurt a defense with his legs. He has made enormous strides as a thrower and rectified some of the mechanics concerns from 2016, leading the Eagles to an NFL-best 8-1 record. He narrowly edges out Tom Brady for the top spot here, with Alex Smith also in the mix.

There’s definitely no shortage of praise when Wentz is favored at the position over who many consider being in at least the conversation for being the GOAT (Greatest of All-Time), Tom Brady.

The remainder of the midseason All-Pro team picked by Yates also included fellow Philadelphia Eagle at right tackle, Lane Johnson. Minnesota Vikings fans will also enjoy the fact that three of their players from the defensive side of the ball also showed up on the projected All-Pro team: Everson Griffen (defensive end), Xavier Rhodes (cornerback), and Harrison Smith (safety). The rest of the team picked by Yates is as follows:

  • Todd Gurley, running back, Los Angeles Rams
  • Kareem Hunt, flex back, Kansas City Chiefs
  • Antonio Brown, wide receiver, Pittsburgh Steelers
  • DeAndre Hopkins, wide receiver, Houston Texans
  • Travis Kelce, tight end, Kansas City Chiefs
  • Andrew Whitworth, left tackle, Los Angeles Rams
  • Justin Pugh, left guard, New York Giants
  • Max Unger, center, New Orleans Saints
  • Zack Martin, right guard, Dallas Cowboys
  • DeMarcus Lawrence, defensive end, Dallas Cowboys
  • Calais Campbell, defensive lineman, Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Aaron Donald, defensive tackle, Los Angeles Rams
  • Von Miller, outside linebacker, Denver Broncos
  • Luke Kuechly, inside linebacker, Carolina Panthers
  • Chandler Jones, outside linebacker, Arizona Cardinals
  • Patrick Peterson, cornerback, Arizona Cardinals
  • Earl Thomas, safety, Seattle Seahawks
  • Greg Zuerlein, kicker, Los Angeles Rams
  • Johnny Hekker, punter, Los Angeles Rams
  • Jamal Agnew, returner, Detroit Lions
