KFYR-TV is reporting a Bismarck Police officer was involved in a shooting at a local hotel, Sunday morning. (Oct.15th)

According to reports, the officer was responding to a call at the Bismarck Motor Hotel and an unidentified person attacked the officer and started to punch the officer in the head and gouging the officers eyes. During the attack, the officer started to fight back and use his service tazer to stop the attack. Police reports then indicate the officer used his service revolver and shot the suspect to end the attack. The suspect was shot in the abdomen.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment to his wounds. The Bismarck officer also was treated at the hospital. The officer was discharged and is on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.

The suspects name was not released.
