Bismarck-Mandan Graduates Suiting Up for the NDSU Football Team in 2015
On January 9th, 2016, the North Dakota State Bison will attempt to win their fifth straight FCS Championship when they take on Jacksonville State in Frisco, TX, and, much like in years past, there will be a few Bismarck-Mandan graduates suiting up for the game.
There are 18 players on the current Bison roster that spent their high school careers playing in the great state of North Dakota, including four from Bismarck-Mandan schools.
Here's a quick look at the four Bison players who have roots right here in the Bismarck-Mandan area!

QB Carson Wentz - Century High School
Arguably NDSU's most well-known player on the current roster, Carson Wentz was a 2011 graduate of Bismarck's Century High School. In 2010, Wentz was named the Class AAA Player of the Year and his success continued during his time at NDSU, where he led the Bison to their fourth straight FCS Championship. He was also named the FCS Championship's Most Valuable Player after the Bison's victory. Wentz is considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2016 NFL Draft class.

CB Ross Effertz - Mandan High School
Freshman Ross Effertz walked onto the Bison program during spring training camp. Effertz graduated from Mandan High School in 2014, where he was a three-year letterman for the Braves. He was also a two-year starter, according to his player profile on GoBison.com.

OG Brock Russell - Mandan High School
Offensive guard Brock Russell is a 2011 graduate from Mandan High School who joined the Bison program in 2012, after transferring from Bemidji State, according to his bio on GoBison.com. Russell made his on-field debut with the Bison in 2013 against Ferris State. During his time at Mandan, Russell was a two-year starter and was named first-team all-state.

DE Stanley Jones - Bismarck High School
Defensive end Stanley Jones, a 2014 graduate of Bismarck High, redshirted for the Bison during the 2014 season, according to his bio on GoBison.com. While at BHS, Jones was named the 2013 USA Today American Family Insurance All-USA North Dakota Football Team Defensive Player of the Year. He also helped lead the Demons to two state championships during his time with the team.
