Tonight the Bismarck Public School district unanimously voted to close Saxvik Elementary following the conclusion of classes later this Spring.

About a dozen parents and staff attended the meeting according to the Bismarck School District website and just one individual chose to address the board.

Talks about the school closing have been ongoing and reasons cited for the school being closed include costs to renovate, handicap accessibility, parking, playground and storage space, and infrastructure for modern technology.

Saxvik parents have previously received a boundary map to help show which of the other four elementary schools their child will have to attend.

More information is available at the Bismarck School District website.
