The Bismarck Demons boys hockey team advanced to the state championship after knocking off defending state champions, Grand Forks Red River in overtime, 3-2.

Ryan Clancy scored 5:37 into overtime play and Zach Kessler made 39 saves in the semifinal game to put the Demons (21-4) in the state title game. They will take on the Grand Forks Central Knights (26-0), as the Knights knocked off Minot, 4-1 in their semifinal matchup.

In the semifinal matchup, the Demons also got a breakaway goal from TJ Irey, and a power play goal from Grayden Stone that tied the game at 2-2 in the 3rd period.

The state title game is tonight at Scheels Arena in Fargo between Bismarck and Central at approximately 7:30.
