Downtown Bismarck is about to get a whole lot quieter, after the Bismarck city commission approved an agreement with BNSF for a rail quiet zone.

According to KX News, train conductors will no longer be required to blow their horn between the Missouri River and 12th St.

This new system will go into effect once BNSF puts together additional safety equipment at intersections downtown.

The possibility of a rail quiet zone has been discussed quite frequently over the past eight years, so it's exciting for downtown residents to know that it is finally coming to fruition.
