Just 24 hours after playing spoiler at the Aberdeen Wings' home opener, the Bismarck Bobcats dropped their own home opener 4-2 to the Austin Bruins.

The Bruins started quickly, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the game.

The Bobcats responded with a goal of their own, scored by rookie Anthony Song, near the end of the first period.

Austin added a third goal in the second period to take a 3-1 lead.

Alex Strand pulled the Bobcats within one goal in the third, shooting one past Bruins netminder Jake Kielly, but the Bruins added their fourth goal just a few minutes later to secure a 4-2 win.

The Bobcats will spend the next few weeks on the road, with a trip to Alaska on the schedule next. They'll return to the VFW Sports Center on October 17th for a second chance against the Austin Bruins.
