A 46-year old man is behind bars after he led officers from the Bismarck Police Department on a pursuit through Burleigh, Morton, and Oliver counties.

According to a press release from the Bismarck Police Department, officers were called to the 400 block of E. Century Avenue Sunday morning, June 26th, to deal with a fight.

While en route, a witness reported that the suspect had fled the area and was able to give officers a description of the vehicle, which was then located and followed to a business in Mandan.

While the vehicle was parked, officers observed two suspects engaged in a struggle. Officers asked both suspects to show their hands, though neither did so. When the female suspect attempted to exit the vehicle, the male suspect was able to flee the scene. The female suspect was still inside.

While officers followed the vehicle, the woman attempted to exit multiple times to no avail. She also called 911 and informed the dispatcher that the suspect driving had a knife and was stabbing himself.

The vehicle finally came to a stop in Oliver County, following a 75-mile pursuit. 46-year old Dawson Mountain Jr. was arrested for Felonious Restraint, Reckless Endangerment, Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, Terrorizing, Domestic Assault, McLean County Warrant, and an Order to Apprehend through the North Dakota Department of Corrections.

Mountain was taken to a local hospital to be treated, before being transferred to the Burleigh County Detention Center.

The case remains under investigation, according to the press release.
